Gateway Florida and the World Trade Center Miami have joined efforts to promote the passage of the Colombia Free Trade Agreement in Florida. We now have an “Action Committee” of over 50 executives. If you would like to become a member of this effort, please contact Emy Rodrigues of the World Trade Center Miami at erodriguez@worldtrade.org.

We really need your help! On April 7, President Bush introduced the FTA legislation to Congress, and Congress now has 90 legislative days to vote the issue up or down. The “Fight is On”.

We would like your organization to support our community efforts by submitting letters of support and resolutions to our legislators. Below find information on the benefits of the agreement as well as sample letters and resolutions for your use.

This category is made up of a section of Florida Specific Benefits and General Benefits of the U.S.-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement. In addition, it contains a section on other issues related to the U.S.-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement, including labor union violence. Each section contains a variety of downloadable documents from different sources.

We encourage your organization to sumbit a letter to Congressional Representatives supporting the U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement. For your convenience, in this section you can find sample letters that can be used as guides for your organization (please place on your company letterhead) and you can click here for the contact information for Congressional Representatives organized by distric. Please also submit a copy of the letter to bdean@gatewayflorida.org, as we will serve as a clearinghouse for this information.
