Gateway Florida’s mission is to promote economic development in Florida through trade and engagement with our friends and partners in the Western Hemisphere.  Economic development that promotes not only jobs and prosperity, but the overall improvement to the lives of our citizens requires that we approach this mission with a focus on “green growth”. 

Under the leadership of Governor Crist and our other public and private partners, Gateway Florida will emphasize trade engagement that promotes both prosperity and the improvement of our environment through reducing green house gas emissions, which have been proven to affect our climate and the quality of the air we breathe from Florida to Patagonia.

Moreover, Gateway Florida is promoting trade in efficient, cost effective and environmentally sustainable renewable fuels. We are also promoting research and development with leading institutes here in Florida and Brazil into the development of next generation technologies that have the potential to convert currently unused forms of bio-mass into clean energy. Helping build public and private partnerships between Florida and our hemispheric friends that promote sustainable and environmentally- friendly growth is a central pillar to our Gateway Florida mission.

By supporting Florida’s Climate Change agenda led by Governor Crist and promoting and participating in public-private initiatives such as the “Farm to Fuel Summit”, Gateway is one of many essential partners in Florida’s campaign to improve our environment while continuing to promote economic growth and prosperity.
