Source: ANDINA U.S. ambassador to Peru, Peter Michael McKinley, stated today that the free trade implementation process between the US and Peru was proceeding on track and would soon be complete. Although he did not mention a date for the end of the implementation period, ambassador McKinley affirmed that the US government was committed to finalizing it shortly, considering that both countries were working closely. McKinley noted that last December the US Congress ratified the trade agreement with Peru, and added that both legislations now need to be harmonized according to negotiations. McKinley stated that the FTA with the United States would create a true partnership between both nations and promote American investment in Peru. Yesterday, McKinley closed the seminar “¿Cómo aprovechar los beneficios y oportunidades del TLC con EE.UU?” (How to take advantage of the opportunities and benefits of the FTA with the United States), organized by Peru’s Exporters Association (ADEX). |
