July 27: Washington Fly-In with the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce
B. Dean traveled with the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Advocacy Committee in their Washington DC Fly-In July 27-28.  In various meeting with legislators, topics covered were international business, trade and transportation policies, laws and programs.  Special emphasis was placed on President’s Obama’s National Export Initiative (NEI), a multi-agency strategy to promote American exports with the goal to double exports over the next five years. Meetings were held with the following representatives: Wasserman-Shultz, Diaz-Balart, Ros-Lehtinen, Brown as well as with Senators Nelson and LeMieux  and with US Dept. of Commerce Secretary Locke.  During the meetings with the Congressional Delegation and senators, B. Dean covered the topic of Pathways to Prosperity and the free trade agreements of Colombia and Panama to ensure optimal impact on the legislative outcome of these initiatives. The issues dealing with Gateway Florida were part of the Legislative Package.
