Meeting with State Department US Economic Officers based in the Caribbean and with representatives from the US Dept. of Commerce
Gateway Florida participated in this reception held in honor of the above.  I. Calderon spoke to several of the officers in relation to the NEI and how it can
benefit both Florida and the Caribbean and serve as the foundation for renewed hemispheric integration negotiations through Pathways. As well, I. Calderon had the opportunity to speak with Kimberly Bell, coordinator, Economic, Energy and Business Affairs,  Department of State, who confirmed that the NEI committee was sending a report to President Obama outlining five main strategies to reach the goal of doubling the exports over the next five years. She said that the administration is very aware of the importance of trade and is pushing forward on a positive trade agenda under this initiative.
